V (he/they) is currently an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Brandeis University, where he teaches courses in transgender studies, sexuality and queer studies, and LGBTQ and feminist social movements. V has also worked as a consultant for Bread and Roses Community Fund, the Gender Justice Fund, Transponder Eugene, Girls Rock Philly, and the Trans Justice Funding Project.
V received their doctorate in Cultural Anthropology, with a certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies, from Northwestern University in 2019. V’s scholarship focuses on nonprofit organizations and foundations, transgender and gender nonconforming communities of color, and black feminism. His writing appears in differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies, Feminist Anthropology, Feminist Theory, GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies, Signs: Journal of Women and Culture in Society, Transgender Studies Quarterly (TSQ), and more. V also authored TRANSForming Inclusion: An Organizational Guide, published by the Leeway Foundation in November 2018; Out in Research: A Guide to LGBTQ Market Research, published by Out in Research and Suzy, Inc. in 2021; Funding Trans Resilience, published by the Gender Justice Fund - Philly in 2022; and a forthcoming 10-year retrospective of the Trans Justice Funding Project.
V is currently at work on his manuscript, Transcraft: Pedagogies of World-Building and was recently awarded a Career Enhancement Fellowship from the Institute for Citizens and Scholars to support this work.
